Passion & Purpose – Discipleship Training School

“Everyone is alive, but not everyone lives.”

The focus of the Passion & Purpose DTS is to develop a passion for God and an understanding of the purpose He has given you. This will be a time where you will be empowered to carry out that passion and purpose in your own life and in the nations. It is the greatest commandment unto the great commission.

Jesus said to his disciples that the greatest commandment is to “[l]ove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mat. 22:37)

And that the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Mat. 22:39)

His final charge to the disciples was to “go therfore and make disciples of all nations.” (Mat. 28:19).

This is our focus, this is our call.

We are called to be radically loved and to wholeheartedly love our Father. This results in a lifestyle of obedience to Jesus’ call to love one another and love the lost.

The Passion & Purpose DTS consists of a 12 week training phase and a 10-12 week outreach phase.

The Lecture Phase

The training phase (lecture phase) of the school is focused on knowing God. We will come to know more of Him through His Word, worship, intercession, serving, and evangelism. It is in the lecture phase that we desire to know God’s love for us in such a way that empowers us to similarly love those we encounter each day. We want to cultivate the lifestyle of Jesus in our own lives by prioritising His presence and allowing that to shape our relationships with others.

Each week of the lecture phase covers a different topic, taught by a different teacher. Our speakers come from different nations and backgrounds in order to give a breadth and depth to the school. This ensures that we are well balanced in our understanding of who God is. During the lecture phase we will cover topics such as:

  • Hearing the voice of God
  • Understanding the character and nature of God
  • Bible Overview (overview of it’s message and history)
  • Evangelism
  • Spiritual Warfare
  • Intimacy with God
  • Our Identity in Jesus

The Outreach Phase

The outreach phase is a time to practically live out and share all that God taught us in the lecture phase. It is here that we want to be the fragrance of Jesus to a world in need.

The book of Romans tells us, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:13-14)

This is the reason we go on outreach. We go to tell and show people that the God of the Bible is also the God of today. It’s an opportunity to give all people a chance to call upon Jesus’ name and be saved. We hunger to see the blind receive sight, the deaf made to hear, the lame to walk, sick to be healed, and spiritually-dead rasied to new life in Jesus Christ. We desire to see the captives set free!
