The Lecture Phase:

The first 12 weeks of the course is the "lecture phase" where speakers from the UK and abroad give input in various topics such as:

   • Nature & Character of God
   • The work & power of the Holy Spirit in our lives
   • Prayer & Intercession
   • Mission & Evangelism
   • Relationships & Team Dynamics
   • Identity & Calling
   • Overview of the Bible

Discipleship is seeing a growth of character and living out the values and Biblical principles that will be taught and discussed.

We call this the "lecture phase", but it is not just about sitting in a classroom. You will meet with other trainees in small groups to process the lectures and to challenge one another to grow. A member of your DTS staff team will also come alongside you to meet with you regularly to chat and pray about how you are able to put the lectures into practice in your own life. This is known as a 1:1.

Living in community is an awesome experience. It's great to live, work and grow together with a group of people that are all hungry for more of God. The accountability, encouragement and camaraderie stirs you to go further and to press in deeper. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

This is not a holiday camp or neatly arranged packaged deal where things go smoothly all the time! What we do offer however is our desire to walk in obedience to God and an environment to be stretched and extended in your personal journey with God and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people you meet.

The Outreach Phase:

The second 12 week phase is called the "outreach phase".
The DTS is not just about teaching and learning but putting things into practice.
As well as mission work within the UK in churches and YWAM projects, we have an emphasis of overseas and cross-cultural outreaches. Our heart is to serve communities locally, nationally and internationally to see people reached with the Gospel.
During the outreach, you are able to put your skills and giftings into practice and to step out of your comfort zone to try new things. What a great opportunity to share your testimony, preach or teach, take a Bible study or kids' program, participate in dramas and songs etc.
Sound daunting? Many DTS trainees who have gone before you have thought they same thing, but they all have amazing testimonies that when they stepped out of their comfort zone and allowed God to help them, they were a blessing to many and conquered fears that they had previously.
In the past few years, we have sent teams to India, Uganda, Tanzania, Egypt, Central Asia, South Africa, Philippines, Bolivia and Brazil.
After every outreach, there is always a DEBRIEF period to help you to process your experiences and to give you tools to help you to re-engage with your home environment. At the end of DTS we have a GRADUATION which is special to hear the amazing testimonies and to celebrate all that God has done in and through you.
