School of Biblical Studies Field Assignment

The School of Biblical Studies Field Assignment (SBSFA) is for School of Biblical Studies (SBS) and Bible Core Course (BCC) graduates who would like to pass on some of the rich things they have learned.  This not only benefits those ministered to, but those who are doing the teaching!  What has been learned is consolidated through teaching others.

A heart-felt cry from workers in many nations is for Bible teachers.  The SBS and BCC prepare people to give Bible training and impart study skills in a simple but effective form and with very few tools. The SBSFA is a wonderful way to begin doing that.

This field assignment is designed to be as flexible as possible and can span between 8 to 12 weeks; it may be done in two separate units if desired.

You will arrange the outreach for yourself according to the requirements below, setting the dates and the location.  The outreach plan should be submitted for approval along with the SBSFA application form.  The proposal should include the details of location(s), anticipated audiences for teaching, and a basic outline of your schedule.  If you need suggestions for locations, we can help you make the connections.

Requirements of the SBSFA:

  • Teach/preach on average 2.5hrs per week, for the 8 – 12 weeks.  A brief daily journal detailing blessings, problems, personal growth, how you think your teaching went, etc, will be submitted to your course coordinator at the end of the field assignment.
  • Using the provided evaluation forms, receive feedback from an able person listening to your teaching sessions.  This is for your benefit.  You should read this feedback and consider any relevant comments for future preparation and delivery of your messages.  There should be between 5-7 evaluations in all.
  • Complete the reading assignment during the outreach.
